So last night I got a bit of a surprise. I’ve been playing Half Life 2 mods lately and basically went on a rampage at Desura.com, downloading everything that looked interesting. One of the mods, Attempt To Survive, appealed to me with only a single screen shot (in retrospect, likely because it reminded me of Fallout), and despite the 7.4 rating (I tend to stick to the 9.5’s), I decided to give it a try. Turns out, it’s about as much like Fallout 3 as a mod made with Valve’s tools can be, and I was impressed with what they achieved. The mod isn’t that long, but I found it satisfying (though poorly translated).
Check it out over at Desura.com (also ModDB.com). It’s free to play if you download Steam’s Source SDK Base 2006 tool.
