The Seattle Mariners May Hire The League's FIRST Female General Manager

Sorry peeps. You know I love the celebrity snark, but I also love my hometown of Seattle, I'm obsessed with baseball...and I don't need to tell you how I can "get" about female rights. So of course I'm very excited about the news that the Mariner's search for a general manager is nearing its end, and that of the four contenders left, one is Kim Ng, an assistant manager for the Dodgers who has also worked with the Yankees in the past. Mariners president of 23 years, Chuck Armstrong, hinted that Ng might indeed be the top contender for the job:

"It’s time for some fresh thinking. We’re color blind, gender blind,” he went on to say. “We just want (who) we think would be the best person for the Mariners as we move forward.”

I just think its cool that this could happen, and that its up here in Seattle. It didn't surprise me at all when we made a superstar out of Ichiro, who now owns part of the team as part of his contract, contributing greatly to the sister-city culture that Washington has long held with Japan. Safeco Field also manages to be one of the most beautiful and luxurious stadiums in the nation, and as a female, I know I can't think of a better place to be stationed. I can't personally say whether or not she's more qualified than her competitors for the job, but she's at least as competent or she wouldn't be up for the job. Kudos, Ms. Ng. I hope we see you in Seattle next year! Source

Kudos! We need to kick more old white men out of the power they were born into! (and that's not sarcasm @ all, unfortunately it is true.)
